Absolutely, and if it is somehow based upon some kind of knowledge of the subject so much the better. Unfortunately your opinions generally are not so based. So if you wish to spout off opinions about the laws of the U.S. you should take some time to familiarize yourself with them. There is another long, long thread about this and you have demonstrated a complete lack of knowledge of the subject. You might as well be offering opinions on Scottish dentistry, which as we all know, does not exist. It's coming first hand from American citizens, not just me. Europe doesn't have the right to bear arms.....i wonder why. |

Well, its got out of control here for what reason i dunno. The problem is never the tool, it's the person wielding it. That's the truth of the matter. Laws or not, some people will commit violent acts regardless. We Americans do argue about the gun laws, so there is no truth other than there are vary strongly held opinions on both sides. (I'd be long winded, but Ignatz looks like he has time to beat you down slowly, point by point... ![]() I voiced it before, my complain with the whole mess is where do you stop? Kitchen knives-some want to make those non-pointy by law too. How about household cleaners--they can be used to create explosives and lethal gases? Petrol, electricity, natural gas, and liquor can all be used nefariously... Where does it stop? |

It's out of control for the same reason you are bothered by handguns--people are freaked out by other people having dangerous killing weapons. It is public perception and fear. ![]() The point i am trying to make is that we've lived alright without guns here in Europe, so why can't America? What is this big thing: is it a "tough guy, superiority" thing? You'd think with all the killings over there, school kids etc they would crack down on it. For example with the Dunblane massacre back in 1996 happened, handguns were completely banned. From then there has been no crime, well nothing like over there http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunblane_Massacre http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1997/1997005.htm |

(Here is a hint, NYC is one of the safest cities in the country, didn't even make it into the top 100 for murder rates. In fact, take out Detroit and the top 100 were all in southern states like South Carolina) For example with the Dunblane massacre back in 1996 happened, handguns were completely banned. From then there has been no crime, well nothing like over there |
