Japan
Korea
Taiwan
Hong Kong
Macau
Malaysia
Singapore
Thailand
Phillipines
Hungary
France
England
Ireland
Germany
Australia
New Zealand
South Africa
USA
Canada
Hawaii
Brazil
Denmark
Netherlands

are the ones I can think of off my head.

Maybe China will join in soon...I mean looking at the turnout they had at the Hong Kong Taikai...with care and good coaching they'll be a real force to be reckoned with in Kendo. I mean they can make their own bogu(seeing as half the stuff ends up being made there anyway) and in the end it comes down to numbers...and they have it.

that would be the gentlemanly way of sorting things out. next time you are in japan, dont hang out in the boring side of the island, hit kansai where the real men live and drink. then we can play.

The fact that Scotland has failed to cast off the yoke of colonial repression should break your heart.
Oh, I think the official name is Britain. I will refrain from commenting on the "Great" Britain title and simply scoff at the "United" Kingdom part.
How long will it take until commander leads the Scotland team to victory?

She's too busy having americano's, did you already forget that!!!

I prefere the term Holland instead of The Netherlands but then I come from the part of the Netherlands which is Holland, the province of South Holland.

Well...as the date draws near we can set up a meeting point, for all the KW forum members who are going, to meet up. I'll be going, hopefully to participate but if not I'll still be going for the ride.

I think steelkendo ask about official list not some kind of "I can think of off my head". You can add to your slap-dash list Bulgaria too mr. KhawMengLee

I think you've got a point about the " official " thing, there were countries mentioned that i havnt heared of during the previous WKC. However, my follow up question is, how can a country qualify, lets take for example country "X" who havnt participated since and was able to put up a contingent recently? Can they just jump right in as soon as they register? Or are there any prerequisites?

From the FIK site for 12th WKC:
Eligibility for Participation:

FIK affiliated organizations only are eligible for participation.
A non-affiliated organizations, whose FIK affiliation is approved at the FIK BODM in the preceding year of the 12WKC, shall be eligible too.

In the 12th WKC, there were 38 teams from 37 countries. (Hawaii has a separate team from the U.S.)
