Signatures?

My Children,

verily I have noticedth today many of you have succumbed to the temptation that is the personal signature.

And though this may be the worketh of the D'evil I wisheth to knowest why you picked thine signature for thine own. And what Pray, be its meaning (eth).

In other words I have noticed some weird and wonderful signatures and am being bloody nosey as to what they mean and why you picked it.

Might even translate mine for you (for those who cannot work it out)

"www.pitchshifter.com - it's a lifestyle choice, live it!"

pitchshifter are my favorite band I have been following them since '92 and earlier. Everything about the band has meant something to me, their music, lyrics, CD design, ethical stances. I've spent more money than is sensible and been to more concerts than I can remember and along the way have enjoyed every minute. So over time I've come to the conclusion it's a lifestyle choice.

I've been extremely lucky with my experiences with the band and consider them friends [if I may be so bold]. I take every opportunity to promote them to help others experience them. They may not see what I see but it would be even more tragic for those that do to have missed the opportunity. So far agood few people have seen what I see.

Anyway, as Pitchshifter are currently 'on hiatus' things have been quiet and my return to kendo has filled that void therefore I thought I'd qualify my experience with the following as a profile doesn't tell the entire story...

Four years kendo, nine year hiatus, four months kicking a$$

mine was a stupid thought that crossed my mind during training and made me giggle- Id seen a mug that read "pain is weakness leaving the body etc".

It was just after christmas and I had a freezer full of fruit mince pies that I have been valiantly trying to eat my way through ever since... Im down to 2 boxes.

Eating too many in one go.... oh dear..

Yeah I've always wondered about yours. When I see it I automatically think it must be a song from "The Smiths". It sounds like something that Morrisey would write. But I don't know any other "Morrisey".

Please divulge?

Eunatis 02-05-2007 09:58 PM

Ahh...reading your profile I'm even more convinced now that I see you play guitar. Okay now tell me that I'm wrong. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...sappointed.gif

Oh yeah, thats what Im talking about!

But not the nice quality ones. The ones Ive got are the cheap-as-St Kilda-hooker, zap-in-the-microwave, that-raisin-looks-like-a-rat-poop ones.

They taste great.

No not wrong> (not in either post as it happens).

I listened recently to a Smiths album that I had converted to CD. And a song came up which I have always liked - Handsome Devil - ...and not because it describes me so wellhttp://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif .

"A boy in the bush is worth two in the hand" should not take too much working out to establish what that means.

But I had never ever picked up the double meaning with the line that follows it ; until I was sat in my car coming home from work one day.

" I think I can help you get through your exams" sounds innocent enough until you remember that, when the song was written exams were called?

'O' levels and 'A' levels.

Which in Education terms means Ordinary level and Advanced level.

In Adult Education terms they mean something else completely.

I soo enjoyed discovering this little gem that I changed my sig to it.

tipokot 02-06-2007 11:45 AM

My sig:
Because it's always good to know that we can train in Kendo for a billion years, have the best intentions, have and learn and cultivate character, honor, integrity, and that is a most noble and admirable pursuit in it of itself. But at the same time, it's important to remember that there exists no more Samurai or Knights, and that no one will be ever more engaged in real sword fight to-the-death-combat, -unless that is, they keep a secret mountain stonghold stocked with half-naked female Ninjas, like I plan on doing once I retire...but in any event, it's a good thing, because being cleft in two and watching my right body hemisphere collapse to the ground in a torrent of blood and quivering tissue was not what I had in mind as "something I needed to do before I die." (Pun intended) ~but other than that, yeah, make no mistake...the world we live in is dominated by the wondrous invention of the explosion-propelled ballistic device. Now instead of spending years learning how to masterfully hack each other to bits, we can simply pull a mechanical trigger, (no training required) and put neat, round little holes into one another!

I was definitely born in the wrong era.

2and Sig:

I'm convinced that Alan Watts pretty much nailed it on the head with the whole "What the %$^%$% is life all about" thing.
