In an amazing display of restraint...

The United States did NOT invade Iran prior to confirming the validity of its initial intelligence reports regarding Iran's possession of nuclear weapons.

No War for You!

And some of you don't believe in miracles. :/

America invaded Iran?
When did this happen?
http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif

For the record, I want to let it be known that I think the vast majority of the Iranian people are kind, friendly, educated and tolerant to other's people’s cultural and religious views, and the whole issue has been nothing more than a grand F.U.D. campaign against the Iranian people.

Personally, I think one of two things should happen. Lock this thread to stop a fight or at least, move it to the flames section. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif I would rather see it locked. I see no good to come of this. But, oh well... http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif

I'm sorry you feel that way Kaoru. I actually feel it a bit complimentary of the U.S. in this one specific instance. In a time where the country is otherwise reknown for its penchant for the act first (on poor intel) and think later, this is a positive sign. Now, if folks elect to take this as an opportunity to rehash old mistakes, then I think that's a waste, but I posted it initially out of the kind of surprise one has when something unexpected happens. (or in this case, doesn't). If nothing else, it may eke out a little positive thinking in this brief moment for a nation that otherwise could use a bump in the foreign policy department.

Korea has weapons of mass destruction - Don't invade
Iraq doesn't have WMDs - Invade (albiet under the pretext of having WMDs)
Iran has WMDs - Don't invade

Where can I get some weapons of mass distruction so the US wont invade me?

goatteatromiag 12-04-2007 04:09 PM

here we go again...

anyway... when did Iran got invaded by america?

probably, the response of president bush to

(sic) "The administration called new attention to the threat posed by Iran earlier this year when President Bush had suggested in October that a nuclear-armed Iran could lead to “World War III"

would be like this

in fact I think that all this Irak war stuff started like this

(respect for innocent people in Irak (who are not terrorists) suffering in a stupid war started by a couple dumb f*ckers)

Just asking cos I don't know any Iranians (though I usually don't make it a first question when I meet someone so maybe I do but don't realise it..)

gogFloark 12-04-2007 04:15 PM

I really like Gideon's & Kenzan's post on this matter. I don't think thread should be locked. I think it is good that our goverment is being more reserved & careful. I'm hoping that the next administration will have a foreign policy that improves our relationships with other nations.

Any person can be kind & friendly no matter who they are or where they are from.

Even if they are from the IRS?

Agreed. Most people in this world do not want to be mean or cruel to anyone. The few that do are just very good at whipping people into a panic and then using that fear to get what they want.

I'm glad to see there may be a change in the U.S' foreign policy. I think it's time the rational people of your country regained control.

Now everyone remember to vote next election

I understand. I just hate fights, that's all... http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif This thread sorta has a potential for things to get out of hand. I hope it won't. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

It is from talking/meeting from them, and from years of reading up on and following the events there.

My impression is that Iran is a progressive country, and aside from certain cultural differences based on religious and historical philosophy, like any true sovereign nation, dislike being bullied by other nations.

Iran's people aren't the enemy, and don't get me wrong, I love my own country and it's people, however if one really wants to know why the entire region is enraged at American foreign policy, just examine an unbiased history of the area from about 1850 until now. The real enemies to peace and prosperity become quite clear. As usual, it is never the people themselves who initiate these things. Lastly, by and large I have it on good authority that the Iranian people don't dislike Americans at all, in fact they are admired. It is the again largely America foreign policy that they dislike.

It's a war for oil and we all know it
We can't function as a society without it.
People complain now
but
No one will complain when we fight a war over water.

Just wait

I actually know a gay Iranian Christian! You don't get many of those to the pound.

Anyway, we all know America hates a fair fight. But they've done well against some Third World countries recently http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/wink2.gif

I'm going to pretend that I have no idea what the real meaning behind your statement is and instead just ask:

Who is this "America" person you keep speaking of?

I would wager that F.U.D. added with Greed, are pretty much the only factors that move the world.
