Default WAFL Report Cards
I think we are about the half way mark or there abouts.... I reckon grading the clubs would be interesting based on pre-season predictions and recruiting.

__________________________________________________ ________
CLAREMONT....... "A"

The tigers are where we all expected them to be. The only reason i didnt give them an A+ was becasue they dropped a couple of games and they probably could have dropped one to Subi as well. But they are purring OK and the foxtel cup games (without the rest) could be a factor.... So that is a PASS.

__________________________________________________ ________
WEST PERTH ...... "A+"

Simple fact is they are 9-1 and many didnt even have them in the top four. Only one failure last week which they rectified yesterday. As the old saying goes the EF loss was the loss they had to have. Whatever that means. They have been very good especially finishing games. They turn for home full of confidence now. The most suprising side so far. So that is a overwhelming PASS....

__________________________________________________ _________
SOUTH FREMANTLE ..... "A"

I didnt expect them to be 7-3 at this stage. For this reason I grade them alongside Claremont. Im not saying they are as good as the Tigers, but given injuries and key ones at that, they have done very well. Souths are set-up for finals given they have a big break on those outside the four now. Before yesterday they were a "B+". Now they deserve to be rated an A... So that is a PASS for me.

__________________________________________________ __________

EAST FREMANTLE ..... "B+"

I guess alot can change in one game. The Sharks have beaten the top two sides WP & CL on away venues. Dropping both games to Souths has dented them slightly but they are in line for finals action. A derby 1st Semi at Fremantle will attract 12,000. A loss to Subi hurts a bit now, but they have done well and at least carried a bit of momentum from all the hard work done in 2010... Gotta give them a PASS.

__________________________________________________ __________
PERTH ...... "B-"

Many frustrated Demons fans will see this as wrong. But they were not given any hope from pre-season analyists. They have already won 2 more game than last year, but the weaknesses are still evident. Given that fact I cant rate them a "C" but they are not far off it. Finals again appear to be possibly doubtful mainly because Peel keep getting under their skin... I just barely PASS them based on last year.

__________________________________________________ __________
EAST PERTH ...... "D"

Gee that hurts but the fact is they recruited bigtime and they are 3-7... Not good enough. Forget that Foxtel thing, they are struggling. Injuries have hurt them but thats not making excuses. The recruits have actually done OK, but Pettifer needs to be more effective. They cant keep relying on big runs home. By the end of this year I could rate them an "F". Only beaten Perth, Peel & Swans. All below them.... So far they get a "FAIL"

__________________________________________________ __________
SWAN DISTRICTS ..... "D"

Much like East Perth I didnt give them the worst possible mark just yet because of the mathmatical possibility. But rating their first half is quite easy. They are the reining premiers who have beaten nobody of significance. They have a few new additions to help with the obvious loss of Krakouer. Never has one player been so missed as he has been. Still can redeem themselves but doubtful... They undoubtedly get a "FAIL".

__________________________________________________ __________
SUBIACO ..... "C-"

Probably where most people thought they would be, but losing to Peel at home probably should rate them a "D". But the fact is we cant lable Subi on past glories anymore. They did not make finals last year and their list is still similar. They must be rated on that alone and they are struggling. Would be suprised if they got the spoon none the less. Beating the Sharks could be their highlight.... Regardless it got to be a "FAIL"

__________________________________________________ __________
PEEL THUNDER ..... "D"

The fact is they are last at the half way mark. So I cant give them any more than a "D". But if you rated their last 3 weeks they would get an "A+".... Overall they have shown signs of improvement. Probably should or could have had 4 wins up by now. I think by the end of the year they could have 6 wins on the board and that would rate them a "C+". Still capable of the 100 plus hiding, and may still do a few more in 2011... But its based on the first half so its a "FAIL"

Yeh BTB, I guess my grades are based on the league alone, not the reserves & colts combined.

I did give the Tigers an "A" and thats almost perfect. Based on the fact it looked likely they were going to fly through the season undefeated at one point, as many were predicting. Still perfectly placed are the tigers.

West Perth get an "A PLUS" based on the fact they have done better than anyone imagined. Lost just 1 game and are fit & firing bloody well. They deserve the best grade based on that.

Anyway its only based on the half way mark. That could all change by the end.

Agree Souths have done well too... they generally give you a tough game regardless.

Here is how i rate what each team has achieved so far with what they have. Here goes;

WP A+
CL A
SF B
EF B-
Perth C
Subi C-
EP D+
SD D+
Peel D

East Perth, Swan Districts and Subiaco are seperated by a bee's dick on the ladder but most of us tipped Subi to slide a bit further this year and most expected SD and EP to be top 3.
