Report: Jason Terry on verge of signing multi-year deal with Boston Celtics
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() By Scott Bell sbell@dallasnews.com 1:49 pm on July 3, 2012 | Permalink ![]() Mavericks guard Jason Terry is apparently about to become former Mavericks guard Jason Terry. That’s because Terry, a free agent, is in the final stages of coming to terms on a multi-year deal with the Boston Celtics, according to a report by Yahoo! Sports. The deal is believed to be a three-year deal paying the NBA’s mid-level exception. Terry wasn’t expected by many to be back with the Mavericks this fall despite having been with the team since 2004. He was the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2009 and a key force in the Mavericks’ NBA Championship run in 2011. A source told The Dallas Morning News’ Eddie Sefko that Terry would be willing stay with the Mavericks if they’d match any other team’s offer — meaning a tie would go in favor of the Mavericks. But bringing back the 34-year-old Terry has never seemed like a top off-season priority for the Mavericks. Terry has averaged 16.1 points per game during his 13-year NBA career, which has been spent entirely in Dallas and Atlanta, where he was drafted in 1999. We’ll have more on this developing story as it becomes available. |
