Heard about this in the Malibu Mag article Kari posted, and now here's a picture!
![]() When Simpsons creator Matt Groening asked Newsom to play his All Tomorrow’s Parties lineup earlier this year, it confirmed his unflappable fandom of the songstress. He even drew the Simpson-esque picture of her included in this post to prove it. But it looks like he’s found a new way to express his adoration of the harpist. Newsom confirmed her imminent visit to Springfield in a Malibu Magazine piece. Prefix calls Newsom’s inclusion “the least commercial artist to ever appear in yellow on the program” and we’re inclined to agree. No word yet on a specific air date, storyline, etc. Fingers crossed the musical cameos only get weirder from here. Daniel Johnston would fit right in at Moe’s—just saying. |

It was just a rumor.
![]() http://pitchfork.com/news/40456-joan...-the-simpsons/ Over the past few days, reports have circulated online that indie harp goddess Joanna Newsom would guest on a future episode of "The Simpsons". This would, of course, be awesome. Sadly, it's not happening. Newsom's publicist has put a press release, which traced the rumor back to a since-corrected error in this Malibu magazine article. And Newsom herself has issued a statement: "Regrettably, the awesome rumor of my upcoming cameo on 'The Simpsons' is unfounded. I remain, however, steadfast as always in my commitment to the character of Lisa, whom I have of course had the privilege of voicing for the last 21 years, in my dreams. Thanks for the memories, gang!" Come to think of it, if Lisa played harp instead of saxophone... That's the most adorable denial of a rumor I have ever heard, btw. |
