We're around Orientale & then the Chopin, Ebby. I think we all started at a little different times.

Ah. Good. I like the Chopin piece a lot. It's one of the Nocturnes I play badly myself.

Well, I'm going to join in from the Chopin piece

I've a soft spot for the Nocturne form, as they were created by an Irish composer - John Field.

So, there's an interesting link there between the form and the use of Irish mythology by Tori in the album.

Wow, I love the Chopin piece! I don't mind Cactus Practice as much as others do, but this is definitely better!

Yeah, I really enjoy the Schubert. Star Whisperer is my favorite on the record though too, so I guess it's not surprising. Mancy sent me a bunch of Schubert earlier this summer and while I haven't listened to it a lot, I think he is a lovely, lovely composer.

The Schubert really is a gorgeous piece of music isn't it?

You can hear the opening melody in it was used quite as is in Tori's version, but it certainly goes elsewhere after that.

The "other side of the mountain" melody in "star whisperer" was something that didn't come from the work, if I remember right?

Pretty sure the "other side of the mountain" bit was her own. If I'm not mistaken, and correct me if I'm wrong Toriphiles, but is this from the Bonn Song/Goodbye Girl whatever that Fast Horse couldn't stop jizzing over?

Yeah she was playing around with the "other side of the mountain" bit since June 2005 with unsuccessful attempts on ADP and AATS. Seems it finally found a home!

I miss Mancy. Come back!!

Oui. The famous Bonn song. For future reference:

Thanks! I'd wanted to hear it since I heard Star Whisperer, but I couldn't ever find it and couldn't be bothered to ask in the bootleg forum. I'll check it out after the listening party.

Oh, totally. The piano playing in this piece is mindblowingly good.

I think the full version is way longer but if I remember right it was quite repetitive so that two-minute video is the gist of it.

Enjoying the Mendelssohn! Some of these melodies - the Satie, the Schubert, the Chopin - are fairly straightforwardly done on NOH; with the Mendelssohn piece, I feel she did something a bit different.

Oh, I think the Mendelssohn one is one of the rather straight forward ones.

At least with the Schubert, the main melody is put with another different melody, and the whole middle section seems to be an improv running on the vague idea of that middle section from the Schubert piece.
