Many conservatives believe this is because blacks are genetically inferior to whites. Many conservatives argue that people who are smarter tend to go on to college more, and because whites are more intelligent than blacks, there are more whites in college. What conservatives believe this? Klansmen?

Why not compare the intelligence of Black children adopted by upper-middle-class White families to the intelligence of White children adopted by upper-middle-class White families?
This would ensure that all children being studied are brought up in the most favorable family environment. Minimizing most of the differences that emerge between the groups due to environmental factors (prenatal environment still remains however). Oh wait someone already did this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minneso...Adoption_Study Also you should read htis paper by Jensen and Rhuston http://psychology.uwo.ca/faculty/rushtonpdfs/PPPL1.pdf |

Where do you find a significant concentration of smart Africans? The US population of recent African immigrants is close to this mark, they also apparently don't like US Blacks that much, a few of their communities probably do exist in the US. I know this isn't your real point, your point is that they may not regress towards that mean. But considering how strong a predictor class and IQ is in the US for how one chooses his spouse one basically already has such breeding populations. The IQs of children of Black parents with a high IQ regress to a lower mean than children of White parents with the same IQ. |

The article in the OP claims that the Scottish are discriminated against in Britain. This suggestion is wrong, stupid and in itself prejudiced. Nor do I believe that Scots score lower in IQ tests. I expect the person who wrote the article is a liar and/or an idiot.
I also think that 'poly should stop obsessing about IQ. |

The trick of course is that such a population would need to be isolated genetically from the wider black community for a longer period of time just like the Jews where (nearly all of the 40% European admixture is Southern European suggesting early admixture then stabilization and isolation).
This currently isn't happening with the higher Black US classes. Also affirmative action distorts the dynamics. |

Ask a ****ing psychologist, dude, I can't give you a rigorous answer to that.
You can't give me a rigorous answer because even the "****ing psychologists" don't really know. Which was the point, of course. But I can draw the line at something directly affected by the amount of money you have growing up (as in, if you took two identical twins, one grew up in NoVA and the other grew up in a Chicago slum, who would be more likely to score higher?) Well that's just dumb. You think a definition of "intelligence" must completely exclude non-genetic factors*? What purpose does that serve? How does that restriction make the idea of "intelligence" more useful? *if you start talking about epigenetics and such I will walk upstairs and punch you in the face. |

You are way underestimating the importance of nutrition in child development. Not saying the average 'disadvantaged' group in the US has that level of average malnutrition to effect IQ's, but it definitely comes into play if you're talking about the IQ's of Somalis or something. There's no way if a pregnant woman isn't getting enough food or the right breakdown of nutrients that her child who then spends his life not getting the right food, is going to be smart enough to do well on an IQ test! |

What is the impact of infant nutrition on later development? Alan Lucas, head of infant and child nutrition, Dunn Nutrition Centre, Cambridge, England, led a research team which found that infants fed mother's milk with a formula supplement for four weeks postnatally had a significantly higher IQ at seven-and-a-half to eight years of age than those who received only formula. There was an 8.3 point advantage in IQ, after adjusting for differences between groups in mother's education and socioeconomic status. |
