Default How old is the world?
The universe has existed for 23 years, the world has been here throughout that time.

Given the new modern physics, the Earth is now older than the Universe.

I cannot disprove that assertion so it must be true.

Can't we just ask "Who here doesn't think the Earth is approximately 4.6bn years old?"

That explains how the world was made, not why it took as long as it did to make it.

Ben. Erm, no. Duke, I've never been a YEC. What made you think so? I believe the 7 'creation days' are 'eons'.

The mesopotamian version of creation was written on 7 tablets - 6 devoted to creation and a 7th to praise etc the creator. And according to that creation epic, Marduk the creator passed by 5 celestial gods before battling Tiamat (the 6th celestial god) - the Earth, a byproduct of that battle - is now the 7th planet.

If just and loving god truly existed, then why would he create insufferable religious maniacs like Ben?

Yeah, fanatics could range from deadheads to fundies, whereas maniacs are all hopelessly insane.
