Now here's the thing. She's bipolar and an alcoholic. For those of you who don't know, my exwife is bipolar and she got addicted to meth (off now). I even went to alanon in California. I didn't think I was attracted to alcoholic/addict types but now I'm starting to rethink that. I know this is wrong but truthfully I can't imagine myself rejecting this woman. I don't know if I have the strength.

My mother is a severe bipolar sufferer, with substance abuse issues.

As a youth I tended to fall in to relationships with waifs who came from broken homes, and who usually had substance abuse issues.

I ended up marrying a very quiet girl, who, 16 years and 3 kids later, appears to be a depressive - ie, she is never happy.

For a long time I've thought my problem is that I am attracted to vulnerable women, ie, a sort of a knight in shining armour complex. I guess I still think that. Whenever female friends or acquaintances show signs of vulnerability, bang, I am attracted to them. Perhaps from a childhood of being an emotional prop to my (usually single) mother.

However, lately my marriage has shown signs that it may fail, and I have resolved that if it does, my next partner will be a well-adjusted, secure individual.

When sober, yes. However, if a woman is drunk in my presence, I'm most probably completely legless myself so in fact she's the one to worry about beer breath. In any case when drunk one doesn't really notice it. If all else fails, mints are a viable option.

Enjoy it anyways. Figure out what you need to do eventually. Probably a rough basis to start a relationship on, but 21 isn't that old. They can sort their crap out yet. I guess i'm in that age group and am a fairly consistant drinker so most chicks I hook up with are in a similarish boat. There is no all encompassing relationship advice, just do what you feel needs to be done.
