Default USB Cables (speed) help please
Hello all.

Im buying this :



and I want to use a retractable USB cable like this :



as this cable is thinner, will the transfer speed be slower than using the stardard one like this :

It's like a water pipe, so to get the same amount of "water" through it needs to travel faster, so the data will actually travel faster in the smaller cable and make your drive work even better.

PS I'm taking the piss. It won't be any slower, but if that drive works from being powered by the USB port then the cables may not pass the required power to the drive to make it work.

Nope, if the cable abides by the USB standard, than the cable width should not affect transfer speeds.

Pretty much, if the cable or connectors are shitty, the number of retries will increase, leading to lower transfer speeds

Cable "type" does not cause throttling, or modify the theoretical transfer speeds in any way.
