Default ABS - discs required?
This has been bugging me for ages now and im wondering if someone can clear this up.

My father told me that for a car to have ABS it must have disc brakes all round, however i have recently been to my local Ford dealer to look at a couple of Fiesta/Focus' and they all have ABS (apparently) but have drum brakes at the rear!?

Can someone clear this up, do these cars just have ABS at the front, as I imagine it would be very difficult to lock disc brakes.

IIRC, a vehicle can have an ABS system regardless of whether it is equipped with disc or drum brakes.

ABS has been marketed with rear drum rear brakes in NA. These were FWD models.

A good number of cars has front disc and rear drum setup, with ABS.
