Polytoners from Atlanta?

I believe Imran is from there. You might wish to send him a pm in case he doesn't see this thread.

Imran's a wimpy suburb-dweller. Don't listen to him.

Downtown's not particularly resident-friendly. There are other places that will be better.

Imran, and yes, the subway system is right next to it. It just said underground, so Iw asn't sure, who knows what it really means. Maybe some kind of Southern kinky thing, where blocks of under the street levels has been dedicated to the molestation of objects and things that do not belong up on the street level.

SO anyways, that makes it easy, but I'd still prefer like.. definitely less than 30 minute commute anyway. Can you give like few areas and suggestions? Not very suburban, I mean I don't want just houses. I want stuff, life. I want to be able to walk and have a life, I don¨'t have any family or friends there so... not like I want to hide myself. I also don't want to step out and get stabbed so, something nice, good area for me, with easy commuting options.

Kitdowstyhodo 03-19-2008 09:47 PM

Yeah I don't think I want a car. I'd rather not have a car. Only 6 months, so... it's just a hassle at that point I figure. I can rent one for a day or two if I really need one. So I'll look for Midtown apartments and... possibly those two other areas. What do you mean by trendy though? I just want... you know. I don't want to hide, I want to have fun as well.

ElisasAUG 03-19-2008 09:58 PM

Yes. Good enough. Trendy can mean so many things http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif But I'll take your definition, it's OK with me.

You know, trendy as in tons of upper fixers, some celeb bought a place so now everyone thinks it's trendy and the prices are up the roof and that's about it.

DuePew 03-19-2008 10:12 PM

Midtown looks really nice actually. I think I have to come up with a place in... a month the latest so... I'm doing some digging. But Midtown is the first area I'm looking into and it looks decent, and it's located pretty well considering where I have to commute daily so, looks pretty good.

Buckhead http://www.discussworldissues.com/im...ons/icon14.gif

$1500 should be more than enough to get a nice place. Rent doen't normally include electricity/gas/cable/internet over here, but if it is in an apartment building water is normally free.

Midtown is far more fun than Buckhead is these days. All the people who moved to Buckhead because it was trendy got older and crankier and resented the bar crowd and forced them to move (somewhat).

When are you planning on coming down Pekka?

klubneras 03-20-2008 03:48 PM

He lives (lived?) in Knoxville, Tennessee... which is about 2-3 hours away.

Lindbergh is in Buckhead. It's an area with a lot of restaurants and bars not too far away. Lindbergh is the name of the MARTA station on Lindbergh & Piedmont. So easy access to the train.

iH1wMOhE 03-24-2008 12:55 PM

Buckhead is nice. Lots of restaurants, bars, clubs, etc. The major malls are in Buckhead (Lenox and Phipps) and lots of the fancy shopping. It isn't as trendy as Midtown or Little Five Points or East Atlanta, but is undoubtably the most well known Atlanta neighborhood.

Basically, there is tons to do in Buckhead.

brorwargy 03-24-2008 02:56 PM

Ah... you will probably need a car for groceries. Or someone to drive you http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif. They probably exist in Buckhead, I'm just not sure where (since I've never lived in Buckhead... I do know where the grocery stores are in the Emory area though http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif).

topbonusescod 03-24-2008 03:05 PM

It's because everyone has cars. Atlanta is, first and foremost, a car city. Hell, the US is a car country. I don't think I've ever walked to a grocery store and walked back home in my life (with hotels, sure, but not homes/apartments).

No malls have grocery stores in them, what wierd country are you from? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/tongue.gif
