he said, noting that the northern state is suffering job losses that some groups blame on Canada.

blame Canada

they are ganging on US together with Chavez

I think they need to be freed from their undemocratic governmental oppression, last I heard there were some human rights violations vs the unborn & something needs to be done

They are going to cut us off when the dollar finally does crash, so we're better of doing this now rather then waiting.

However, Neither Hillary nor Obama has any real intention of ending NAFTA.

It's a very, very powerful political tool that wouldn't even need to be used for that long to become effective. Plus, in Canada's history there's already precursors to this like the National Energy Policy.

I think there are more guns per capita in Canada than Iraq.

You've obviously never met people from Red Deer and Lethbridge.

They have nothing to live for.

Right on, Geronimo.

I don't think it's unlikely for Canada to suspend shipments of Oil, energy, etc -- the effect would only be temporary to get the US to be less stubborn about something.

Whatever Canada was trying to motivate the US to do, that would likely be the only concrete result.

If Americans felt they couldn't even rely on Canada to export energy to them I'm sure the political pressure to eliminate domestic production shortfalls by any means necessary would be immense.

AK-47s are every where. Doubt the same is true with Canada. Daddy's hunting rifle isn't the same as an automatic weapon.

See DanS's response. NAFTA isn't going anywhere.

As for the rest... yeah, Canada has us by the balls on energy. Given the economic co-dependence of the two countries, however, Canada would inflict a fair amount of pain on itself if it waged economic warfare on us.
