You know, when did this problem of student school shootings start in earnest? To me it seems like a social phenomenon that was sparked by the Columbine shootings. Because before Columbine, I had never even heard or seen anything like it.

I'm glad I'm not in school anymore. Bad teachers and unfinished homework were the worst I had to deal with.

Tragic!

There has been some speculations that the shooter is hiding among the persons who are treated for injuries at hospitals.

Anyway, here's the "manifesto" of the killer:

I thought hand guns were hard to get in Finland (though hunting rifles are supposedly very common).

Couldn't go beyond the first page without people giving their political agendas, well more like attacking some side, congratulations:

PLATO
DinoDoc
Kuci

Not that I mind, I'm not insulted, I didn't know anyone that died there, but class is showing, I think jokes and stuff should be on the second page and forward, not the first ones.

Anyway, the politicization had to happen sooner or later...sooner, really. It's not like there's a lot to discuss about the incident itself: "I think killing seven little kids in cold blood is a bad thing." "I disagree; this is the only solution to Finland's overcrowded schools." "I would say that it's a bad thing if only the kids in question weren't Suomi. Finns aren't human and don't have feelings."

Apparently, this guy thought himself one of the few "intelligent elite" who realized humanity was enslaved by totalitarian governments. He thought himself good enough to carry out natural selection.

I only asked because it's probably not the first time 4chan has driven someone to go on a suicidal rampage. The website seems to attract a lot of people with messed up personalities and poor social function.

plato, naahhh don't be sorry. I know it wasn't meant like a joke like that.... plus, I didn't knwo anyone there. I'm not that upset about it anyway, I mean the event. I just thought you know, first page rule . There is no such rule. For example, fi someone tells a joke about it now, I don't care. I know, it's weird!

Kuci, gun control. Besides it doesn't really work in this case, you know because we have third most weapons in here. Sure, gun control is tight, but then again there's tons of guns already so.... but I wouldn't even disagree with you. I just wait for the idiotic debates that follows in here (Finland, not Apolyton). You know, gun control this and that, violent video games, rock music,.... the typical crap. The next big televisiond ebate will be tons of people wanting to monitor and ban internet forums. That's the way it goes, this kind of crap for a month.

So I guess I got a bit upset about the gun control comment not because it would be irrelevant or disrespectful too early, more like that we're going to have to watch that debate for weeeeeeeeeks now. It reminded me of it. I didn't think about that before your post.

And I apologize Kuci, DD and Plato, I was being a jackass myself. But I didn't mean it with anger when I posted it. But I'llt ake it back because I can. It's there but it's not there anymore.

I can't WAIT for the ban everything cries. Plus, the "WHY WHY WHY", as in we failed as a society once again, let's make rules, let's ban some stuff... the only thing I'd say is worth debating is how do we help these troubled youngsters better when they are depressed and stuff like that. Anything else is waste of time and besides the point IMO.

Actually, the "It's dubya's fault, gun contrl is teh answr" brings few points that also would make me shoot a comment that would upset most Finns. First of all, when there's a school shooting in the US, there's people here that go like it's an American problem, the society blah blah blah, values down, blah blah, guns blah blah.

Well look who's talking now? It's very simple. The kid went crazy, got a gun (he was 18, you think 18 year olds can't get a gun if they really want to?), planned this ****, cold and calculated execution of that plan and that's it. People often forget we aren't any better than the rest of the countries or people. People can go nuts in here just like everywhere else.

I'm sorry that all these people died and for their families and friends, but mostly I'd feel sympathy for the parents of this killer. They must be going through a complete mindfudge right now. How can they cope with this? The killer is likely to die, he shot himself in the head as well. But aside from dying, he just freaking killed loads of people. It's a small place.... it's not like everyone is going to understand the parents didn't do it.

The kid went nuts, end of story basically. Let's focus on mental health issues, not video games, music and other crap that the banning rod is waiting to touch.

No. You know this is a case I' dlike to see this killer survive, just to see what kind of a joke thing he'd get.

DD, there's no way in hell they'd convict him, he'd go to nut house. Less than 10 years though. If convicted, life sentence, that would translate into... 10-15 years.

Oh and to gun control people, THIS GUY HAD A PERMIT FOR THE GUN! You can get hand guns and stuff in here as well, even though tight control. What that control means is that you can't have a criminal background and that you have a reason to have it. This guy belonged to a shooting club. So... it's nto that difficult even to get a permit really.

Plus now some people who knew him and so forth havbe told, that he really did think he was an ubermensch. I mean now they know he was serious. Had a grudge against human race, figured he was God like "decision maker". So forget about GTA, Metallica and porn. The dude was ****ing insane.
