Ronin was an adversary, not an enemy, or perhaps the better term is antagonist. What I mean is Ronin and the SG team were at odds when they first met.

As for Spike, I actually thought he was tougher. Maybe not so much in Buffy, but he kicks butt in Angel.

In STNG, Worf always seems to be getting knocked around. I'm in the process of watching DS9 on DVD, so we'll see what happens there.
