Are you afraid of cancer?

If you aren't, you're crazy. The docs aren't kidding about doing things like testicular self-examinations as young men -- a friend of mine was lucky enough to catch his early.

gariharlj 09-25-2007 04:44 PM

I only get an error when opening the document.

But no, I don't fear cancer. It's a fair chance I'll get it I guess, we have heritable cancer in the family, but no. We will all die one day, and I don't fear what comes after death.

I'm not particularly afraid of cancer. It's only such a high cause of death 'cause we've solved most of the other ones.

The Quebec public education system has failed me http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif.

Hey Asher, did you read the document?

It shows that people from Quebec and the atlantic provinces are more likely to get cancer than people from BC and Alberta.

Do you have something to do with this? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/angry.gif

Spec. Quebec has an absurdly high smoking rate, last I checked.

BenBoobmers 09-25-2007 05:48 PM

No idea, maybe I'll google it later. It's mostly anecdotal evidence and the fact that it's more euro-centric.

I am rather pale, and live in the South, so I go through some effort to protect myeself from the sun. Besides skin cancer, I don't worry to much. Skin Cancer is not even listed in the most common cancer cases.

Seems that you are more likely to have brain cancer than skin cancer....And thats like a .04% chance.

So, stop fearing skin cancer and start fearing kidney cancer. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/nod.gif

I'm scared shitless of cancer. I have a decent head of hair, and at the very least, I don't want to lose it.

The last was a joke, kind of.

I have a really good friend who's dad died this way. He was diagnosed with skin cancer and 3 weeks later died of liver cancer. Is skin cancer related to birthmark cancer?(is that the word btw? Those brown spots and birthmarks are two different words in Norwegian, but only one word is to be found in my dictionary?) My grandpa died of birthmark cancer.

I've had melonoma in situ and have had it removed. Keep in mind I also have pale skin and try to avoid the sun as much as possible.

I'm not afraid of it yet, but it is something I need to be concerned about.

kuzbaslachek 09-26-2007 12:03 AM

not really, with my lifestyle I am thinking heart attack/coronary disease is more likely cause of problems/death... but relatively young still so hoping to change my ways to extend the stay of execution for a while yet...
