Default Who Is Portugal, And Who Needs Their Input?
They are a bassackwards country that has no death penalty yet has a lower murder rate than Texas.

They are a bassackwards country that was circumnavigating Africa when Texas was inhabited by nothing but coyotes, jackrabbits and Injuns.

And IIRC, the last time they were in a war, they kicked the snot out of Napolean.

FYI:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Portugal
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_Empire

Of course the US never has anything to say about the internal affairs of European countries so I can see how annoying this must be. I will certainly be supporting US sovereignty when Portugal starts bombing Texas over these alleged human rights abuses.

Portugal better watch out, they might be next. Hey! Maybe the euros care enough about the people on death row to give them assylum? Think of the savings on the electric bill.

You don't seem to understand the situation.
It's not Texas and Portugal, or Greece for that matter.
Portugal, for some unknown reason, decides 2 things.
A) That they have a corner on the sanctimonious attitude market
B) Texas might possibly care.

List all the countries which successfully stood up to Napolean before Portugal did.
(Hey guess what? You're done already.)

Hey, you give Napoleon 50 illegals and he'd have Texas conquered by dusk. He'd even throw in a bit of Oklahoma as well.

The Union is no more than a neighbour. To ask a neighbour to re-consider their conduct does not seem too terrible a thing to do.

But I gather from this thread that neighbourliness may not be a quality much practiced in Texas. Or parts of it, perhaps.

Erm.....Sloww? Aren't you taking this a bit far?

The EU have the position that there should be no capital punishment. Texas has capital punishment, and are using it more than most states. The EU makes it's position know - that is how politics are done.

And that is the end of the story

So go ahead and execute to your hearts content. I guess we wont know 'till judgement day if you are right or wrong in this

The Jacaranda trees are in blossom and there is a hot new Fado singer in town.

Just the time to visit Lisboa, Sloww.

They make good shoes, have good barbers, an excellent (and undiscovered) cuisine and are hospitable folk. There are places you can get a three course meal for 5 Euros.

Perhaps you could persuade them to wear large hats, call themselves by their initials and - if you absolutely insist - to kill people.
