Watching the cylon raiders in the original BSG, I have to conclude that they were a little faster than the Vipers, but a lot less manuverable and relatively underarmed for their size. It's telling that Kamakaze attacks were a common tactic, and that Vipers were always able to get on their six.

Plus, they had three pilots, not one of whom ever though to look behind them.

Shrike class LAC's from David Weber's Honor Harrington series. Both for the innovation they represented, and the complete change they made to centuries of established Starship military tactics.

Oh right, you'd be as lethal with a freighter as another experienced pilot would be with an actual combat craft.
