true chgo pizza only has a lot of dough on the sides. the "pie" area is filled with toppings and then covered with sauce.

The Thai Chicken at CPK is my absolute fav!

I love California Pizza Kitchen, but then I'm a Californian. Still, my favorite type of pizza in general is thin crust, even at CPK. The Cali style isn't what I would call pizza, any more than what Chicago tries to pass off pizza... that's a pie!

btw its possible to get California style (Wood oven, funky ingredient combos, etc) on the east coast without going near a CPK. Still indie joints doing that. I first encountered that kind of pizza in Baltimore, at an indy joint in Fells Point, before Id ever heard of CPK.
