I'm not saying this to denigrate McCartney, BTW. He wrote a lot of amazing songs. But I'm willing to bet that more than a couple of his best songs never made it on the top-10. |

During the Beatles, Lennon trounced Paul McCartney.
How could anyone prefer Penny Lane to Strawberry Fields Forever? A Day in the Life would be yet another lame McCartney ditty without Lennon's transcendental song surrounding it. A Magical Mystery Tour, which was LAME LAME LAME - McCartney's idea. Lennon wrote I Am the Walrus - enough said really. McCartney was a greater commercial success than Lennon post Beatles? Big deal. Heather Mills is more impressed about that than I ever will be. |

Pwned... From the 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, they wrote 'With A Little Help From my Friends', 'Getting Better' and one of their best 50-50 co-compositions, 'A Day in the Life'. In the song, it's easy to see how John and Paul could work as a team when they wrote; whilst John came up with the original idea for a meditation on newspaper stories and the verses, Paul came up with the famous line 'I'd love to turn you on', the orchestra transition and the middle eight section. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A5950929 |
