oh, and some more irony to the story - Martin Sheen appeared in court and supported Sizemore, but in the past he has endorsed using jail to coerce users into rehab. Of course he doesn't get to decide how long his friends will have to stay in jail, a judge gets to decide that. Juries and the actual victims of crime should be making those decisions, not the state...

It's basically the government telling you that you have no right to do what you want with your body. The only remaining argument, that the government repeators like to shout out of their filthy Orwellian pig mouths is that "Well, it still supports organized crime". First of all, it's not true if I grow my own product, second of all that isn't even the real argument.
It's "supporting" organized crime simply because it's in the hands of it, because it's illegal. So the argument really is just "well it's illegal". And these pig mouths will do anything so their childhood world wouldn't crumble, where mommy and daddy said drugs are baaaad m'kay and here's your brain on drugs. So what? Why isn't masturbating illegal? I can't go out there and masturbate on public, yet it is still legal in my own home where I won't be bothering anyone else. In fact, there's a whole lot of wanking going on in this building right now I bet. The real issue is, are we allowed to do what we want with our bodies? If not, I think it's only fair and safe to say, that we aren't the least bit free. We can't even work our own bodies, that has to count for something. So all the bad effects on society... who cares? Booze is still legal, what about diabetes and coca cola, McDonalds and everything? What about cigarettes? What about fast cars, skateboarding and random anonymous sex without condoms? And it costs money, yeah now it does, since no one profits from it legally and we can't tax it. Now we only get the bad effects. And jerks will be always jerks, drugs or no drugs. Some people can't use them properly, they'll fail, just like they fail with alcohol and life in general. So what? Just because of some failing examples you can make an argument strong enough to say basically that I can't do what I want with my body in my own privacy? DUI etc are still illegal... stealing is still illegal. You think the crime on the side goes up, down or remains about the same if it was legal? Who would seriously say it goes up? Pig mouths are not winning in numbers though. They just have the vote that counts. But they will die sooner or later, so no more new pig mouths so maybe we can have real arguments again and kick these freedom hating socialist POS jerks out of the earth. |

In Topeka, drug use might not have a visible impact, but in DC, it would be impossible to ignore as theoretical. Really, you don't have to go farther than the murder rates, but there's lots of background readily available otherwise if you aren't satisfied.
