No. Yes....yes they did. http://atwonline.com/news/story.html?storyID=9185 Aeroflot 787 order part of deepening Boeing-Russia ties Tuesday June 12, 2007 Despite the fact that its initial order lapsed last November and it signed on for 22 A350 XWBs in the interim, Aeroflot opted to join the rush to order the 787 with a commitment to Boeing for a reported 22 aircraft. The manufacturer released a statement Saturday saying it was "very pleased that Aeroflot has selected the 787 Dreamliner for its fleet requirements" and that it "looks forward to working with Aeroflot to finalize the order." It provided no other information and the SU agreement is not part of its 787 order book, which now stands at 584 firm and 45 pending contract signing. However, widespread reports out of St. Petersburg from both Russian and international news agencies pegged the order at 22 aircraft with deliveries to start in 2014. SU CEO Valery Okulov and Boeing Commercial Airplanes President Scott Carson were in the city to negotiate the deal and spoke to media there. Okulov said the 787 order would not affect SU's deal with Airbus (ATWOnline, March 23). The aircraft will be 787-8s, according to Bloomberg News, which reported from Moscow. Reports of renewed negotiations between Boeing and Aeroflot surfaced in recent days and followed what was thought to be an awkward period during which Russian National Reserve Corp.--a major SU shareholder--lost its delivery slots for 22 787s (ATWOnline, Nov. 7, 2006) while relations between the US and Russia appeared to strain. Those ties now have been strengthened by more than just SU's 787 order. In addition, the manufacturer announced an expanded collaboration agreement with Sukhoi under which Boeing will "expand its advisory role" on the Superjet 100 program (see item below). Its assistance will include flight and maintenance crew training, spare part management and supply, production of flight and maintenance manuals and after-sale support. The companies have been working together since 2002. |

Err..Serb, Aeroflot has announced it.
http://www.russiablog.org/2007/06/ae...boeing_787.php Last week Aeroflot Russian Airways announced that it will buy 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliner airplanes. Aeroflot formally signed the contract with Boeing at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum on Saturday, June 9, 2007. The $3 billion order was part of $13.5 billion in new business deals announced over the weekend at the conference, which drew over 10,000 visitors to multiple venues in Russian President Vladimir Putin's hometown. President Putin joined several of his cabinet ministers and many Russian business leaders at the showcase event to promote Russia's booming economy. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19157673/ Boeing on Sunday signed an order for 22 long-range 787s from Aeroflot after a year of stop-start talks with the Russian flag carrier, sealing the deal alongside strategic joint ventures with two Russian aerospace groups. |
