Default Another School Shooting (Virginia Tech)
At least 1 reported killed in shootings at Virginia Tech

One person was killed and as many as eight more wounded in two shooting incidents on the Virginia Tech university campus today, The Associated Press reported. Students were instructed to stay indoors and away from windows after a gunman reportedly fired shots at a residential dormitory, police said. Roanoke's WSLS reports that one person had been taken into custody, but it is unclear whether more suspects are being sought.

22 dead.

Apparently two gunmen according to the AP, which says that the gunman was taken into custody and faces capital murder charges. It also says he was killed.

Israeli television told something about the shooter lining up the students and shooting them one by one. Execution style.

Banning guns would not have stopped him from getting a gun. On the other hand, if the students were carrying and open fired back...would be a very short day. By the time the police get there it's already too late and most the time they just contain the situation. If anything, this is a call for normal law abiding citizens to start carrying and taking their safety into their own hands. I'm on your side, dumbass.

EON is a walking reason to ban the right to carry arms.

Further: for the victims

You have the Palestinians to take it out on.

Also, Israel is about 2% the size of the United States. Of course this sort of thing doesn't happen as often.

I was very sad to hear about this. After the shooting in Montreal this past year, I hate to hear about this **** more than ever.

as for every student carrying a gun, I figure once the 1 madman starts shooting, everyone starts shooting, and you lose track of who the madman is. That sounds worse to me.

I went to Tech, this is horrible. At least all of my friends still in Blacksburg are safe. I heard it was possibly tyhe worst college ever (and the worst in 40 years).

I think Israel is a prime case of people in the ages 18-21 going around with plenty of guns, and almost never going on murderous rampages. Trained in proper gun usage, used to military discipline (even if of the more informal IDF variety), and, besides that, still subject to be washed out of the IDF for mental problems, no?

I dont think the situation is quite analogous.

Is it an important university?

Maybe they should put metal detectors on schools and universities, it is for sure better than everybody carrying guns
