Default Why am I only good at the sports I hate?
I have it worse. I'm good at curling. I suck at everything else.

I would think pool would be your game.

I can't do anything on the basketball court. It might be the sport I'm worst at.

I'm mediocre at snooker though That disappoints me. I'm actually good at pool (8 ball, 9 ball and snooker)

I don't really count that though.

I reached my athletic peak at approximately age 12. Good at baseball, very good at basketball, decent at hockey, good at football, good at soccer.

It's been pretty much downhill from there, although I'm still respectable at softball.

Ready?

Not everything is about you, Tex.

I need to take a break from the intramurals.

I was doing my regular running routine (~50 k a week) and dealing with the constant knee pain. Then we played intramural basketball, and in our 3rd game I rolled an ankle pretty bad. That was 5-6 weeks ago and it's still bothering me (I think I might have damaged my Achilles tendon in addition to the taleofibular ligaments).

Then the IM football season started up. I managed to overthrow my arm in one of our practices (I'm the backup QB) and it's on fire from my shoulderblade to my elbow. Now we're onto volleyball at the same time as football, and it's not helping.

I've had to stop running because of my ankle, and my weightlifting routine is suffering too. This sucks...

I know I am. The recovery time from injuries is 2-3 times what it used to be.

That's fine. 8 months ago I was in the best shape of my life (cardiovascularly). Ran the 5 k in 18:12

I had to ease off the running for a while, but that allowed me to get stronger (in better muscular shape than I've ever been before now).

I just need to stop getting injured. Being a bit older really does kill you when it comes to injuries. They take forever to heal.

Sophomore year in high school I had a track coach who'd always come to my basketball practices and beg me to join the track team... while the basketball coaches wouldn't play me at all. Junior year I had tuned most everything out. Strangely enough I got to play a lot on the basketball team that year, started and played virtually every minute except when I fouled out. Didn't enjoy it, or work particularly hard at it. (And nope... hadn't grown... I was a bit over 6'1 160lbs as a Freshman... and still am at 31.)

Life is weird that way.

Any guy who says volleyball sucks just hasn't been watching the right girls playing it.
