I stigmatize smoking because it affects ME. Overweight people are only a problem when i ride the bus. Smokers who smoke near me or shortly before talking to me smell bad and irritate me

I can close my eyes and not see the fat people. I can't close my nose and not smell the smokers.

lardasses > smokeheads.

JM That gives me an idea - just like smokeheads have to refrain from smoking on airplanes, lardasses should be forcibly liposuctioned before being allowed onboard.

No, but being obese only affects your health. Being a smoker affects the health of everyone around them. I agree with large taxes on fatty foods in order to provide a disincentive for their use and pay for the extra medical treatment needed for obese people, however I accept it's up to a person what they consume, since it doesn't directly harm anyone. Smoking, on the other hand, directly affects others. It's not about the extra financial cost of healthcare, that's taken care of with large taxes on cigarettes. It's about the fact that I breathe the same air you do. Smoking is pollution, and it's harmful to those around you.

I may look at some fat person shovelling in McDonalds and think and think worse of them, but I wouldn't go up to them and ask them to stop it. However smoke around me and I will. If you want to smoke in your own home, then that's your choice and your rules. Similarly open spaces are public property that are well ventilated, and so I have little problem.

Aside from that, there is a social stigma to being fat. People don't date you, seats on planes and cinemas feel too small and generally you walk around with it being obvious that you are fat.

It's like a lynch mob saying "Hanging - at least it's not crucifiction". It doesn't make it ok. If you lead a very active life, 4000 calories isn't bad. It is just those of us who sit on our asses all day that should try to stick near 2000.

For example, a 180 lb man who hikes for 8 hours with a 21-42 lb load will burn over 5000 calories in those 8 hours.

For really heavy days, 8000+ calories consumed isn't unreasonable.

I smoke 'American Spirit' roll-your-own tabacco.

4,60 euro per 35 grams, good for 50+ sigarettes.

I'm a bloody addict

Also, your smoking contributes to second-hand smoke which harms the health of others around you.

I'm one happy camper as both of "my cities" (Toronto and Calgary) are now 100% smoke free in public places (including bars/pubs)

The lardarses and lazy bones are doing a far better job of polluting the environment with their cars than smokers do.

When I was smoking I tried to avoid smoking around people who were non smokers in enclosed environments, its socialy responsible.

BTW; After my mom was hospitalized, it took her another six years to die...in ever increasing pain. Towards the end, not even morphine could mask it.

Good luck.
