Often the claws are called 'tines'.

For fork sake

Harpoons have either 1, 3 or 5 spikes. The first fork ever, Neptune's trident has 3. Yet most eating forks have 4. Why; One reason is that they are manufactured by rolling and not by welding the spikes into a central stem, as harpoons are.

What I hate about cheap cutlery is that some are made of too thin and too soft metal and tend to bend when facing a harder than usual substance. Frozen icecream is the most usual culprit.

There is also this option, from an etiquette site:

Two-pointed fork, on the right of the plate, to pull out snails from the shell and for oysters.

Eating pizza with your hands is such a lack of class.

I think the bone part threw me off-course some, too.

I prefer thicker crust. Not too thick, but thick enough that it doesn't hang down from the bone.

A fork is a fork is a fork. It's what you do with it that matters.

Why use a fork when you can have a spork?

So the number of tines on the fork all depends on what you are eating.

A sort of a Prong cocktail.
