So does it only happen for games? Games which need a disc check?

He then does a 180 degree turn and says ok, do you have any important data on your pc?

Hello i tell him, yes been installing for a week all programs on it.

He tells me I have to do a complete install from scratch.
I ask him is he sure and he says yes this is the reply that will work

He didnt have that before and only after I told him it was a game but anything

When doing a Google search on this message it is all over the board with various softwar installed from AOL to Office to games and the answers a wide across the board.

I think i will recall the HP and see if I get an American or someone who has some sort of technical knowledge.

Grrrrr

Gramps I dont think calling again is going to work. Their default answer is just reinstall windows. As far as the error message that is a pretty general error and I have seen it on a lot of programs before.

I meant, do the games that crash require a play cd to be in to play? It sounds like it has something to do with the cd check.

Which games specifically crash? Empire Earth 2 (SecuROM) and...

Ok

I can play any of the games in question problem free on either of the two external roms

but nothing work on internal roms

EEII,SWAT 4 & Expansion, Axis & Allies to name a few have the runtime error

Then the pc freezes up and you can eject or do anything, except restart it (The pc)

Updated to death no go, reinstalled same twice on each nada, zip zilch

All these games require a CD to play

That's one gripe I have with Windows-based tech-support. Reinstallation is a ****ing asinine solution. A solution involves finding the problem, and fixing it, not simply taking the approach of "nuke it from orbit". Unless, of course, these people think that Windows is the problem. What happened to the days when the tech support guy actually knew the system and how to fix it?
