Default No thread on the most recent German warcrime?
Some troopers holding up a skull is no grounds for the
media's discussion of 'scope of German involvement'....

'Criminal charges'...??? This is an example of PC gone wild.

Unless it was FG's

*hides*

Seriously, the thing is IMO rather a display of stupidity. But otoh soldiers in that environment should be more responsible, since the action may be very well used by Taliban or AQ propaganda to point at the "crimes" of western troops. So I don't think it was a crime in our sense, but the guys shouldn't get away with it.

To pee, or not to pee?

Alas, poor Abdul... I knew him, Horatio.

Considering what the public owes to the defenders of their nation,
I think they should allow the troops off with a slap on the wrist
for being crude. But no severe punishment should happen.

Make them bury the skull and peel extra potatoes.

I don't think this is a huge deal. Bad decision and bad taste, stupid joke? Absolutely.

But crime? What crime?!

But I bet the dude who was waving his penis with the skull is now feeling very embarrased about it, and there will be a full investigation

I mean it's bad enough to rob a candy store, but to be known as the guy who teabagged skulls?

Tabloid sensationalism . I almost asked if they got the pictures from the Daily Mirror.

WTF, if this was a skull they found lying around I don't get the problem with this, it's not like the skull cares.

I did that on a class photo in highschool. I did not sport my kabanoss, though.

The next year, a guy in another class wanted to copy my trick, but dropped the scull so that it smashed against the tile floor. The biology teacher was outraged.

Is this going to be a major scandal in Germany? Could it jeopardize the recent trend of sending troops abroad?

Then you get a Madrassa filmmaker's student thesis of slaughtering an infidel by sawing their head off slowly with a dull, rusted, saw.

Ask Daniel Pearl or Nick Berg.

But no, I know, those poor devout Muslims are just misunderstood...

Very strong reactions so far - I think in part also because there's the fear that radical islamists could still use the thing to try something (after all it took long before the cartoon stupidity got momentum - the cartoons were published in Denmark months before).

Could it jeopardize the recent trend of sending troops abroad? I don't think so. On the same day the photos came out the Bundestag confirmed a new national security policy with the army labeled clearly as "intervention force".
