I've always been an old school, 2 spaces guy.

BUT THAT'S WRONG!!!

I'm writing for a living now and have been published in at least a dozen different magazines over the past year. In EVERY SINGLE CASE, their style guide specifies one space between sentences. this is also true for every corporate client that goes so far as to have a preference.

Get used to it, gang. One space between sentences is now the norm.

I still lead at 301 wpm!

I didn't f-ing cheat! I just was on a roll.

(how can you even cheat on something like this? Copy and paste? then it would be a lot faster than 301 wpm)

50 wpm, 226 cpm.

I look at my keyboard when I type, so it takes a bit of time for me to read what's on screen. I guess I type faster when I already know what I want to write.

As of 2005, Barbara Blackburn is the fastest typist in the world, according to The Guinness Book of World Records. Using the Dvorak Simplified Keyboard, she has maintained 150 word/min for 50 min, 170 word/min for shorter periods of time, and has been clocked at a peak speed of 212 word/min. Blackburn, who failed her typing class in high school, first encountered the Dvorak keyboard in 1938, quickly learned to achieve very high speeds, and occasionally toured giving speed-typing demonstrations during her secretarial career. She appeared on The David Letterman Show and was deeply offended by Letterman's comedic treatment of her skill Claiming 88 wpm above the Guinness record is a little over the top.

Source: Wiki, of course.

it might have just been a bug in their system because I haven't been able to beat my second best score of 150, let alone approach 300 again. At the time, it didn't seem like I had typed that fast but i type very quickly regardless so i didnt know. but the point is that I didn't cheat.

That would be so stupid to cheat on something as unimportant as this...

I'm sure Albert is very fast, and I'm not accusing him of cheating. I just input "fastest typist" into Ask and reported the result.

Yes, the differential is pretty big. But possible explanations abound.

It's even possible that Albert Speer is, by far, the world's fastest typist...

I think I proved that typing that fast can only be done by copying and pasting. When I copied and pasted the speed of Albert Speer was more or less my speed.

I'm just a better copyer and paster then Albert is 8)
You're still the better typer though
I'll ressurect this thread till I've beated ya
