Is there any section/rubric/thread dedicated to books, where people can post reviews based on their experience of reading them (something like the amazon.com's Customer Reviews section)? This would help us find our way in the forest of books that exist on the market.

The best place for this on Monachos would probably be in the Specific texts forum. I had posted in that forum asking about the book "From I-Ville to You-Ville" and got several comments/reviews. There is a lot in that forum besides book reviews, of course.

If others would like to see/post book reviews also, perhaps the best way to handle it would be to start threads for specific books in that forum, and start the thread titles with "Book Reviews:". This would make them easy to find using the Monachos "search" feature. Or, if interest is great enough, perhaps Fr Dcn Matthew could be persuaded to create a "Book Reviews" sub-forum under the "Specific Texts" forum (or elsewhere if he thought of a better place for it).

Indeed, this would be most welcome if something of interest to members. Do speak up if so, and we can easily create a book reviews area.

Dear all, I'm glad to see the interest in this area. We'll go about creating it in short order: do watch this space.

For those who remember back, Monachos.net did in fact launch an Orthodox Books Review service some years ago; however, it was discontinued due to a lack of involvement. Perhaps this new interest shows the time is more ripe today than then!
