Does anyone know whether Dr Phil & Oprah are Christians? I believe Oprah has publicly claimed to be a Christian. She often speaks of her faith, especially while growing up. But of course, as we all know, only God knows the true position of one's heart. May He have mercy on us all. Athanasia |

The last time I watched an episode of Oprah, on American television about nine or ten years ago, she had as her guest some form of new-age spiritualist describing how all religions were like different drops of water in 'the great sea of the spirit'. Given her affirmations of the relevance and beauty of what he was saying, I had since assumed she was of the same focus.
But then I must say, previous to this post I had given it precisely no thought whatsoever. ![]() INXC, Matthew |

Yes, Dr. Phil and Oprah are American television personalities. Oprah came first, way back in the 80s, I think. She started as a television news reporter (she grew up in Mississippi), then started her own morning talk-show. She eventually became very popular, very successful, and recently established a couple of schools for boys and girls in South Africa. She is a Christian by her own admission, though obviously she also holds ideas commonly referred to as "New Age".
Dr. Phil, a psychologist/psychotherapist was 'discovered' by Oprah, and Oprah often invited him on her own show to talk about relationship issues. Dr. Phil proved so popular and charismatic, that Oprah helped Dr. Phil start his own talk-show, focused on therapy and relationship issues. Dr. Phil is also an admitted Christian (being from Texas an' all), without the more overt "New Age" links that Oprah has. |
