Do You Believe There's An Afterlife?
 

Simple question, do you believe in life after death? I'm not asking what your religion is, I don't care. I'm only asking whether or not you think there is one life to live. This isn't a debate, only a poll. If you want to discuss this in more detail, then I invite you to visit my debate thread "A Debate For The Existence of God".

I wanted to put this in that debate, but I can't add a poll. It seem's to me there are ALOT of atheist's here, I'm curious to see what the actual ratio is. I myself am not one.

Of course not. Humans have such a hard time dealing with their own mortality because the idea of dying scares them. They want a sense of permanence and the idea of an afterlife provides that as well as bringing comfort from the inevitable end.

Simply because as a Athiest, I simply think we are born live our lives, then die and are buried in the ground and then nothingness.

Well, yes but not in that we have but one life to live. I think we are infinite.

I think there is. I mean, it just seems a little goofy to me that we just appear and disappear like that. I think souls are an equavilant to energy, they may change, but never go away.

Of course! Jesus is my savior! Its foolish to think there isnt heaven/hell since the soul exists.

Once again, as the topic states. Your religion doesnt matter in a specific sense, he just wants to know if you personally believe there is an afterlife.

Hold up, like I said, if you want to discuss this in detail, then go to the debate thread where I already have a topic started. This is just a poll to see who does and does not believe in an afterlife, that's all.

I'd like to believe there is, but nobody has ever died and came back, have they?

I am not talking about Reincarnation and regression under hypnosis, or NDE's...they all could be just subconscious memories of something.

I voted 'no'.

Conservation of matter -> Body decays into subatomic particles -> Absorption of particles as nutrients by organisms -> Become a part of embryo.

Assuming we can somehow collect all the particles that formed a human and somehow "reassemble" it into its original embryonic state and let it age/mature, I think "reincarnation" might be possible.

No, when faced with the question of whether or not I think I'll survive my own death. I've not seen any compelling reason to think I shall, so if I'm wrong it will be a surprise - I like surprises. But I would simply be wish thinking if I said I belived there was.

I do believe there is something after death, but I'm not sure of what. Personally, I believe in a spiritual type of thing. It's hard to tell that if somebody has been reincarnated in another body. Nobody has ever said anything like that and if they have nobody will believe them anyway. No guarantee there is a Heaven or a Hell, but like I said I do feel like there is something afterwords. It's really one big mystery, but I did vote yes in this case.

I believe in an afterlife in the sense that I'll eventually be converted into a fighting robot.
