Default looking to price out a self built desktop
i had a gateway, it was a year and a halkf old and it has started overheating. i stripped it down and put it back together and it is still overheating so screwit

i know for a high end system you can save a lot of money by building it yourself but what about a lowend system?

stock comparison:
compaq desktop at bestbuy, $300
2GB ram
320 GB hd
2.3GHz processor
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE graphic
dual layer lighscribe dvd+- burner
win7 premium home 64bit

i would add my existing 500GB internal drive as a second hard drive
i would add exisitng ram to examnd up to 4gb

so.............

i have monitor, keybord, speakers, hard drives, and 2gb ram

what would i need to buy from someone (newegg?) to build my own?

motherboard
gig connection if not built into motherboard
video card if not built ito motherboard
usb connections if not built into motherboard

processor
operating system
power suply
case
van

i know if i was building my own it seems like a shame not to put together at least a dual core system...

for a lowend system ($400 or less) is it possible to build my own and get something better than the $300 bestbuy special?
