About two weeks ago, there was a story about a group of school children from San Pedro de Macoris. Of course, the inevitable question came up but it was phrased "Will you make the sacrifice and be re-elected?" Hippo saod that it was not a sacrifice, and that the people would have to decide.....
This was the first time that he had acceeded to the "possibility" that re-election as a possibility, all the while blaming the journalists for "inventing" the rumors...

You have to be very hard skinned not to want re-election. Of course, it won';t happen, with his party divided.....maybe, 'cause they are the dumbest of voters...

I agree 100% with Golo.

With hippo's people controlling the legislature, Courts, Junta Central Electoral and the Banking system I am not optimistic at all for a Clean, Smooth and safe election.
Does anybody think that Hippo will give up The presidency?

Of course. . . . .OTOH. . . . .if Hipolito is setting presidence that re election is LEGAL. If leonel wins which he should, then he can also run for a second term. I'd like to see Leonel get 8 years to fix this mess.

Those of you that live in the DR should get together and organize a campaign against Hippo and the reset of the PRD thieves. I am sure that many here would be willing to help out....even if it just means making small donations to the cause. Its not just Mejia....its the Central Bank also....they have willfully and maliciously arrested the local DR economy...what has happened to the economy was predicted on this board....it is not complicated....Malkum knows damn well that he is taking money out of your pocket...

Default Can you say HIPOcrita!!!!!!
The man of his word and the man that would not seek re-election has finally shown what he is...a big lying snake! All the bull about re-election is a cancer for Dominican democracy and always saying no and no that he would not run again. This guy is such a joke! The funniest part and also the most selfish part of this is that he feels he needs to do this to prove that he is not a fallen tree. In other words now that he has brought the economy to it's needs he needs to prove himself even if it means hurting others in the process. I mean..what the hell...who cares about the people, right? This guy makes me want to squeeze his throat until I see hair growing from his baldness! This is not GOOD!!!

The first time Hippo decided for reelection was back in late 2000 when the government ads came out saying "We still have a lot to accomplish".

I knew then and there this man was on a reelection bid and I have been saying all along that he will go for it. Those who doubted this were just the same naive Dominicans who continue to trust these old hacks.

Leonel did not go for it because it was illegal then and he could not win a battle in congress to legalize reelection then.

Fello Subervi is stationing himself for Hippo's VP since Milagros is going all out to try to outluck Hippo. She stands no chance at all, so her career as a potential presidential candidate will be over the minute Hippo gets the nod. Hippo will lay the ground to leave one of his PPH's boys as heir apparent, or Fello, who has been a good boy.

In the PRD look for guys like Miguel Vargas Maldonado, Eligio Jaquez and Guido Gomez Mazara for future candidates. The old guard will be finished if Hippo wins the nomination for the PRD.

The only viable alternative now is Hatuey de Camps, who holds the party's presidency and lots of muscle, underground power supported by U.S. Dominican mafias in a world I am not going to mention here, but that offers a dangerous opposition to Hippo. His group manages mobs and new money with lots of risky activities. Hatuey is not going to be an easy out for Hippo. If Hippo survives Hatuey, then Hatuey will become the richest Dominican. Hatuey either gets the presidencial nod or Fort Knox. Hippo will pay.

The rest of the candidates in the PRD are just positioning to get party jobs, government contracts, free jeepetas and vans and to place their people in no show jobs. Millions of dollars will be spent before this is over buying votes and people.

I would not be surprised if someone, or several get knocked off a la Dario Gomez before this is all over. Remember I said a long time ago that Gomez' death was an inside hit. Many more have been dumped in the sewers and even burned to death since. The bleeding is not over yet. We may see the St. Valentine's Day Massacre recreated in DR. This is the most violent party in our history.
