Default No "Thanks"
If there is a single feature of the forum software that provides real feedback to people posting here, it is the Thanks button. It's gone. I will assume that it is temporarily gone, and will be back.

No smite no thanks.

I think we should get at least the smite option back. It was like a tradition to smite the fuck outta new people for a week or so.

I worked hard to maintain a 2:1 "Thanks" ratio. I also made sure my thanks meant something, having given out only 120 or so in the last two years.

Once we are up on 4.2.0, I will see if:

1. The new version has a built in thanks (not sure)
2. OR I will see if there is a newer supported add-on for thanks.

While we are on this subject, I think thanks should be anonymous. It could just say at the bottom of the post "5 users thanked this post", or something like that.
I think personal feedback can help posters grow. That's just my opinion. Gives some people a reality check.

If the thanks are anonymous, it's kinda hard to determine which posters are like minded. I know which people think like I do as much from the thanks as I do from their posts.

In a perfect design it would give you choices, such as.....

1. Cool post, I agree.
2. Not sure, let me think about it.
3. I respect your opinion but disagree.
4. You're fucked, nuff said.

Never anon and there would be a bar graph displaying your overall median score.

LOL, LT. Why not just have both, an anonymous thanks, and a personal thanks? And smites.

We obviously need a thanks feature, or this forum will get very annoying with all the hammerheads posting (thanks @...) posts.

Usually someone else is more eloquant at posting what I'm "thinking" about a particular thread, so the "Thanks" feature has kinda been a way for me to just say, "I agree completely, thanks for posting". Life will go on

I wanted to click the "Thanks" to show my appreciation for your posts but I was shocked to see the function disappeared !
What could that mean, why would that happen, who's trying to get us all skeered !

Some dumbshit with nuthin better to do went & wasted some precious time & he done & went & hacked !
Let me be the first to say, you oughta just GO AWAY & really should be schmacked !

If you're not interested in what we be chattin 'boutz on here,
then whydontcha go & relax & just have a beer ?

You know General Of D is gonna dickstab you if he finds out who you are
and Magnes is gonna call you out from afar.

So just go away now & leave us alone, we don't like hackers, we just be stackers minding our own biz, the truth is painful to read & hear but that's what we do is bring it to light.....is that what you fear ? And now we can't even thank our buds.
But guess what ? It's just a little old Thanks button.....our forum is UP & RUNNING isn't it, my dear ?
Our hats off & a big cheer to the owner JQP.....he always saves this place from them damn schtick in the muds !

Thanks JQP !
