And what the hell do they think that the Federal Reserve has been doing for almost 100 years?.
================================================== == A Fort Worth man has been sentenced to 80 years in prison for trying to buy movie theater hot dogs with counterfeit cash. Charles Cleveland Nowden was sentenced Friday, two days after being convicted of forgery. Two years ago Nowden used a fake $20 bill when trying to buy hot dogs, popcorn and soft drinks at a Mansfield movie theater. Prosecutors say after his arrest, a police officer found more counterfeit bills worth $120 tucked into a wrapper of one of the hot dogs. http://www.activistpost.com/2011/11/...or-buying.html |

We on this forum understand the irony, but the masses do not. They accept the legitimacy of the authorities printing money to finance the gov't, but do not accept the legitimacy of a man printing money to buy a hot dog. There is no difference on a moral level; printing money is counterfeiting money.

This is great news, potentially. If this guy got 80 yrs for using counterfeit money, surely every single person employed by the Federal Reserve will soon receive life sentences and we as a society will finally have honest money. Around my area business's have been posting that they are not accepting $20's & $50's as someone has been passing counterfeit bills...I have to give a chuckle every time I see the sign. |

$1.2 billion missing - embezzled from MF Global private customer accounts. And where's Jon Corzine, the mastermind of this theft? So law enforcement has time to arrest a guy for spending a counterfeit $20 bill but no time to arrest and question Jon Corzine about $1,200,000,000.00 that is missing and unaccounted for?
The rule of law is dead and buried in America. The government has lost all legitimacy. Anyone who entrusts his funds to these markets is a fool and a knave. The Secret Service has degenerated into a modern day Praetorian Guard determined to protect the corrupt criminal enterprise at all costs. |

Actually, I think everyone in the world who has ever has passed a Federal Reserve Note would have to do time. I believe by using them you then become an agent of the Federal Reserve? |

I don't understand how the prosecution and judge can justify the sentence. They are going to make the taxpayer pay to incarcerate this guy for the rest of his life? Over a hot dog and $120 of "fake" money?
At 40k a year (a very modest estimate) x 50years (assuming he won't live to be 100 in jail) that is 2 million dollars. That is much more damage to society then leaving him free to pass counterfeit bills on occasion. Give me a fuckin break! |
