Default Site Hacked
At about 5:30 AM Monday morning the Calendar script was hacked. I wasn't aware of this till later in the day when a user emailed me to report a problem accessing the calendar. When I contacted the company hosting the site they immediately deactivated the account and removed all the files to prevent further exploits of the site and the rest of the servers.

I am gradually bring the site back online from backups but the Calendar - which is probably the most imprtant part of the site - is toast. I can't simply reinstall it as it obviously is vulnerable to attack by hackers and I don't have the skills required to close any holes in the software. I also don't have the money to hire anyone to do it.

Most of the site should be up and running within a few days but I can't say at this time when there will be a calendar.

Brian,
I hope there is someone out there that can volunteer some help, or make a suggestion about how to proceed, correct, and prevent this from happening again.
I want you to know how much I appreciate having this website available for our community to promote our work to the world and communicate with each other.
Many thanks.

Hi Brian,
Yeah, Coat beat me to the punch. I too wanted to applaud you for your web site, which has become a unifying force in these parts. It even connects us to Victoria. Hope you find a solution.
Best,
Bill

Thanks Coat, and Bill. It really helps to have your support at this time.

This forum and most of the site is back online, but there are still some holes - the calendar being the biggest one. I'll have more to say about all this in a day or two.

I'll second all of the above, Brian. It might not always seem like it, but B.C. is a jazz COMMUNITY more than ever, thanks to you.
