Finally got around to checking this one out, fascinating to see exactly how he used those two fingers, although recordings like Mystery Pacific are better examples of how he used the 'sliding' solo technique to make up for lack of other kinds of dexterity, the rapid picking perfectly timed to articulate each note. One observation that's clear from the video, although the other two fingers were supposedly useless (certainly not missing as suggested in the original description), he does appear to use them occasionally in the chording in the opening casual duet sequence but more as a mechanical barre than regular digits.
But the original location for the video seems to have changed (so Brian, your link is no longer valid), but in digging around for the link, I tripped over another wonderful video of Elis Regina doing Aguas De Marco (Waters of March) on what appears to be a television show, a truly delightful performance, check it out: http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2006/0..._france_g.html (the link is about halfway down the page). Anybody else checked out youtube yet? ... N PS e.g.: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ibM5utBwB...=miles%20davis for Trane's solo or http://youtube.com/watch?v=kTsAyh-e6...=eddie%20hazel for some rare Eddie Hazel or http://youtube.com/watch?v=6JcWh6Koz...n%20parliament if you're into some roots p-funk! ....
