Audiophile from Latin audio "I hear" and Greek philos "loving," is a hobbyist who seeks high-quality audio reproduction via the use of specialized high-end audio electronics
(so if you were expecting porn, you'll have to look elsewhere) So I wanted some nice jogging headphones/in-ear headphones, but wanted to have the regular iPhone controls (mic and three button on the headphone wire near the chin) and was willing to get a nice quality pair in the hopes of hanging on to it for a while. When I was in Florida, I bought a $40 pair of Sony headphones that had three different ear-plug-thingy sizes. Well, those headphones sucked. The first irritating thing was that the mic/buttons were on the left ear wire, whereas I was used to the right side. No big deal. The sound was okay, and it did a decent job of blocking some outside sound. However, the in-ear plug ends have a taper to them, and didn't jive with my ears well. When jogging, they would fall out within 20 steps regardless of what size I used. And then I accidentally washed them. So on top of that the sound has gotten worse, and the mic doesn't work at all now. Thus I revisited my original search to find a headphone. I immediately was brought to the Ultimate Ears 500vi. I was contemplating this headphone, but they were sold out when I was in FL and they're twice the price as the sonys. Well, they were in stock on monday and so I bit the bullet. Got them today. Put them in, held the middle button to activate voice control, said "play album defending the genre" and my iPhone mistook that for "the downward spiral" by Nine Inch Nails. So "Closer" starts to play... HOLY SHIT THERE ARE NOTES AND TONES IN THAT SONG THAT I'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE!!!! I was absolutely blown away! Totally worth the money, the sound is crisp, clear, has plenty of depth: The bass even comes through! You can feel your ears vibrate a little when the note hits ![]() So I'm currently going back through my most beloved songs trying to hear things I've never heard before. These things are AWESOME! |

Lol are you serious Greg??? I cannot believe you used" audiophile" and" iphone" in the same post lol. Iphone sound quality, or the sound quality of any digital media really is horrible in general. Play your NIN off a CD for instance, through even a reasonable quality amp, and use a good set of headphones or speakers, and you will REALLY hear stuff you wouldn't believe that was missing...

Hahaha, yeah, I know the decoder/encrypter/whatever for iPhone is apparently pretty bad. Tho the CD is still digital. Vinyl is still king for music format quality.
My post is more a testament to the headphones, and less to the music quality I'm putting through them, but I do realize the foolishness of using "audiophile" hah. |
