Default Wife drops a bombshell on me.....
Sorry, it's a good bombshell. I get a text from the wife the other day and she asks "Could we give the 66 mustang to my parents and get a ski boat?" I'm like WAAAAAAAA I've been asking to get a boat for years, honestly.

So I am now in the market for some sort of family ski boat. We have 5 in our family 2 teenage boys and my daughter that isn't 65lbs soaking wet. This will be a family boat for tubing skiing and if possible some wake boarding for the kids.

So I need some input from fellow members, boaters, skiiers, etc....
Recommend a dealer?
What size ish, 18 ft 20ft?
Inboard or outboard?
Type boat/motor to avoid and type boat/motor you recommend?
Used, I'm thinking $10K but budget isn't set yet
If I buy private party I will pay a dealer to inspect and I will water ride in it too.
Happy to answer any questions that would help you to help me, never owned a boat before.

Thanks for any help or advice you can share.

Get one of the wakeboard boats there pretty sweet, always see them out on the water have speakers hanging from the tow bar and spots to hold skis and/or wakeboards, there inboard and they get up and go, theres a few different brands to get, I was looking into boats but bought a 3 person jetski instead.

We've had two ski boats ..... a 93 Ski Nautique ....... and a Master Craft , not sure what year ..... 89 ???? or 90 ???? I never used it much ..... it had Distributer probs all the time.

I would Go for a Air Ski if I was still into it ....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/L-K-A...rQ5fMotorboats

Good luck ...... personally I'd keep the Stang ...... but they(ski boats) usually have FORD
motors ....so you'll feel at home .... lol

It just amazes me how these boats hold their value. This is deffinately the type of boat I want and on my wish list. We will have to see if the wish list is in the reality budget list LOL
Stang is not being sold, I just won't have access to it any more. Which really was the reason we started looking at boats, I only drove the stang 2 last year and none this year. The family will get much more use and family time, together time, with a boat. I just have a few more years with the oldest before bieng with the rents isn't on his radar so time to maximize our family time.

Gonna start to look at dealers next weekend and get online this week. I have a buddy that has high end boats like this, gonna see if he has any connections he can hook me up with as well.

I found this but more of a all around boat

BOAT = Bust Out Another Thousand
That's the Truth ..... sorry to say .... Another Reason we don't have them anymore .

Not to mention only being able to use them for possibly 4 months of the Year .
Now if I lived on the Water (private pier & Boat house) like at my parents house , I may reconsider .

I'd rather own a plane or Helicopter ...... all thing's on the wish list ...... after the Viper that is .....

well it's costing me $1K a year to store the stang, so this is my B.O.A.T lol,
4 months use is better than 2 rides in 24 months with the stang

It's always benn something I wanted and now I got the go ahead..
JSTSQZD you may be hearing from me. I'm gonna go to all the local guys including SB, but there were some smaller guys along Hwy 16 Oconomowoc/Okachee area I may hit as well.

Gonna be a fast learning curve and probably trying to purchase by Oct.

Is boat buying similar to car buying in Private Party better prices then dealer??? I would think so, but dealer may through in free winter storage, gear, covers or something. Things are never FREE I understand that.

Hoping things go well on this would be fun to at least hit the water a few times before year end.

Yeah ....storage sucks ...... but a Grand a year ? ..... Yikes !

You can spend money just about everywhere you can think of with a Boat ..... Inboard would be my choice ..... but ..... Their more $$$$ w/ repairs .
Yes private party's are usually cheaper ...... but Dealers will/should have some sort of Maintenance package , Which is nice .
I'm sure there are some Great Deals to be had , I just don't look for Ski Boats that often ..... er never .... lol

Good luck .
