Default Slyder + Snowboarding = DOOM
Well, I promised my boy last year that if he took up snowboarding I would take him to some of the ski hills. Well, he did, and I'm dead, I don't snowboard
He's going Friday to ICE board at Alpine. we may tried Cascade or Devils Head over X-mas break.

My question: How hard it is for an old guy that used to ski (20yrs ago) to learn snowboarding?

I'm old, athletic and heal fast any tips....please...still don't know if I ride goofy or not. Last time I tired, my right foot was to the back of the board.

This is not looking good....good one-on-one time with the boy but I see pain in my future.

Never got much into snowboarding, but good luck. I rode a couple of times... It was a little unnatural, but I think as with anything it would come to you.

I biffed once pretty hard on a farm and fleet crap snowboard when I was little. Was fine though.

Cushion your ASS man with some serious padding. I went snowboarding once at Cascade and it was awful. Probably because the guy who said he would stick with me to help left after one run. But it blew. I got the concept of balance but still couldn't control myself very well. Getting on the lifts was hard as shit. Good luck! I went back to ski's after 3 runs.

granted i'm still a young guy..after two hours on the hill and one hell of an ass ache later i got the hang of it. start out small and learn how to stop first. its gonna feel like your gonna fall every time you try to stop but thats just how it feels. and dont stay on the bunny hills the hole time. in my opinion you don't get going fast enough on them to learn. but thats just me.
Have fun i love it.

Well I survived snowboarding

SEVERAL Alieve, hot soaking tub and a sore arse

I did ok, got fakie down a bit still weak on my toe side slides. oh ya I'm ride goofy. Took a big spill on one of the intermediate hills and about an hour after that my body was done, ouch. Hit the bunny hill to work on technique but my body at that point said time to stop. Still need to work Monday. My kids had a blast and we will be going again week after new years.
I will be getting some padded gear before that

Crazy old man learning a young mans sport

Well

not as much pain this time and my toe-side turns are stronger.
The impact shorts were a win!!!!! Saved my Arse, literally.
I'm really enjoying the sport and the time with my boys. Glad I took this up.
