Default Im an amateur
I have no real equipment, just a ****ty lil digicam, and sometimes a tripod. Most of the pics I take I model after Reinhard Mcklein, a respected motorsport photog. Im very much an amateur, and considering the excellent photography I see on this board, I shouldn't even bother.

Are you wanting video or stills? If stills, a Canon Digital Rebel XSi or a Canon D40 would be a good bet.

I'm no expert, but they look fantastic to me. My favourites are the Porsches, and the 3rd one down, with the Subaru.

Nikon and Canon are good choices and both have superior lenses. The difference between them is like the differences between buying a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, either way you go you get high performance. The Digital Rebel XSi, though, has by far the best performance of an entry level digital SLR and has a great price. The D50 has been replaced by the D60 and is slightly less expensive than an XSi, but it also is a 10.2MP versus 12.2MP. Either is a win.
