How about a month-long design competition? Both photoshops and sketches are permitted, and the winner of each comeptition chooses the next 'topic'. The winner would PM the moderator of that forum (me, I guess) and then the moderator would assemble the new competition. Voting would be the same as the regular photoshop and drawing competitions. The winner of the previous comp would construct a set of rules for each comp, a co-moderator could review them, and if he/she likes the set and finds them flexible but not inappropriate, he could approve them and email them to the moderator.

I suppose that I'll take this opportunity (at the risk of hijacking this thread) to ask for members' input as to how we can improve the contests.
I know that a lot of members have school to worry about, and around this time of year contests typically slow down, but it's been particularly bad as of late and I was just wondering whether there was something I could do to spur more interest. As an example, even after a week extension, the most recent contest still has only one entry. Interestingly enough, the Frankfurt show thread was quite a success, perhaps at the expense of the contest. Is it purely a lack of time to compete (in which case it will pick up later on this year) or is there something wrong with the format/topics/etc? I'd like to know, because I think the contests are a terrific creative outlet and the perfect way to hone your skills/up your game; I for one think it would be a damn shame for them to fizzle out. |

One of the ways in which forum members are enticed to compete in similar contests I've seen in other forums is the prospect of prices. The prices are donated by the contestants and are typically inexpensive and related in some way to either imaging, drawing, or the subject at hand (cars or the brand in particular). Prices could be anything from sketch pads, to photoshop templates, to hotwheels cars, to old copies of car magazines. Having something to win often inspires people to become involved and in turn donate a prize themselves. Just a thought. |

GM InsideNews haha thanks, i can be such a noob sometimes santeno, i think thats a good idea, but maybe not a prize that involves postage, i think maybe like a photoshop technique, a photoshop brush, or maybe... ..the winner of a contest gets "pro photoshopper" or "photoshop contest winner" put in thier signature until the end of the next contest |
