Default Convicting People
I am not one of those Anarchists who doesn't believe in society or in control and so on.
But I have to question the system that we use to condemn people for their actions. I believe that a system that works on revenge is against the very purpose of having a society and a government. And jail is nothing but Society's revenge on an individual. You have commited an illegal act. Now rot in jail. We shall delight ourselves in your suffering! It all comes from the early days. Sunday, such and such will be hung in public. Masses unite to see the act of revenge...
..But why? Where are we getting at? How will people actually be reformed from their punishment?
Whenever I think of jail, It sounds so childish to me. "Okay Billy, you sit at the corner and dont turn arround untill I tell you so". "Okay citizen, you go to jail and dont come out until we tell you to".
Now, I dont usually complain about something like this without offering my views on the solution, but I just felt like discussing this idea, and see if anyone can come up with a better way to condemn those who are a danger to our society...
Surely we should be focusing on re-educating these people rather than revenging by terminating their liberties and endangering them, so we can feel that their offense has been paid for (An eye for an eye)?
