i have got these AVI (or MVI) videos that only play in Quicktime, and I wanted to convert these to another video format that uses less memory.

For example, a 20 second clip is around 6 or 7MB, which is huge for something so short.
Does anyone know any programs that can convert it to another video format? I thought Nero was good, but I can't see any option on Nero which converts from one video format to another.
any ideas, or know any programs that do?

Try AVS Video Converter. It's the best software i know for this purpose, and not very expensive. It allows you to transform virtually any format to another.
