Default Question to all inhabitants of Belgium
I'm going on holidays to my uncle, to Belgium (Brussels). Can you tell me, what necessary things should I know while in Belgium?

If youre riding the train from the airport to the city, be sure to buy your ticket first before getting in the train or theyll charge you extra. Its hot on the days & cold in the nights, bring an umbrella. If youre bringing electronics, remember they use A.C. 220 volts of a different pin type.

That is by far the most important thing to know.
It will also be the first sign you'll see when you come out of the airplane.

Sorry but I have to disagree on that point. IMHO, italian style chocolates which don't tend to be as heavily sweetened and often contain nuts (which is my favorite combination) are much better.

You will find that in most large western european cities you will be reasonably safe. That doesn't mean that you should go looking for bad parts of town though. You will also find that in cities that see a great deal of people from many countries (with the glaring exception of Paris) a great many people have a working knowledge of english. This is particularly true of tourist areas.

16 is Germany. When I went to Belgium last year, one of the first things the customs woman said after I gave her my passport was "You know, there's no drinking age here in Belgium".

I like Belgium. It has the only totally lit highway network in the world (visible from space, but only at night). Good beer, very excellent food, nice people. I prefer the Flemish to the Walloons, but then I can speak dutch with them, so...
BTW, did you know that Marvin Gaye spent a couple of years in Ostend (seaside town in northern B) and wrote Sexual healing there, before returning home to get shot by his dad.
Tourist attractions: Waterloo monument (lots of steps), Manneke Pis, Atomium. That's about it. If you're really bored; France, The Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg are very, very close.

Painkillers. You'll need them after sampling all the wonderful beer (I preffer Excedrin). You might want to wear comfortable shoes if you have to walk through the Brussels airport. It's beautiful, but it's freaking huge.
