ok gas price's are out of this world and trucks are still very hot segment, they sell just about every kinda truck here in the state's but not a fuel efficient kinda truck for home depot runs, why-o-why cant we american's have a el camino again, they would sell every one they make ! and the ridgeline and chevy - caddy half breeds drink fuel, so why not a good little fuel efficient car based truck !!!!!

Yeah that Falcon and Holden are nice cars, hellluva good performers too. I don't know how well those would do in the USA though, because cars there sell primarily for their image and people often want a Macho image from their truck (and the above cars don't have that). So maybe they wouldn't sell that well, even if they have all what people really need...

Well the appeal of an El Camino is that it should be inexpensive. Now can anyone see any of the Big 3 resistig the temptation to luxo-up the interior or give the car super performance (turning it into a lifestyle vehicle)? Also for this to be a believable hauler you would expect power to be trasferred via the rear wheels, since it's the better set-up for work and torque transfer. Do any of the US automakers have a an inexpensive RWD platform that coul do duty as an inexpensive el-camino? Ford has the Crown Vic (those australian models pictured above aren't cheap), but what else is there? I just don't see south african style bakkies being very popular in north america.
