It hasn't really changed my life as much because I have been involved with computer networks since I was a child (I attended a very progressive school as a child). That said, The internet has drastically shifted the balance of consumer power in my direction. Information and ease of access has increased drastically, making many aspects of life far easier and convenient than they used to be.

Ahh the internet. I'm addicted to it unluckily, but I think that overall it's very positive. You can access information you could NEVER access in a lifetime if you didn't have internet.
One thing I find very curious is that I always thought it was Stupid and gay to meet people in the internet. Things obviously changed arround when I came here. I still think it's stupid and gay to meet people on pages that are intended to meet people, but in a place like this, it was totally unexpected and a very pleasant surprise
But I hope I get over internet addiction soon... Lol

my life practically revolves around the internet. i browse it when i'm bored or have nothing else to do (80-85% of the time minimum in other words), and to do research for school, among other things. besides, without the internet, i'd know next to nothing about cars.

Default The Internet
Certainly the internet has become a focal point in everyone's lives, some more than others, and in more than one way. What is your take on the internet? Has the internet changed your life in any way? How do you see the future of the internet? Etc Etc Etc (more questions I am too lazy to ask )
Discuss. Please feel free to contribute anything else I might have forgotten that is relevant to this topic. Let's make it a productive thread. Go!

Some of the younger teachers are pretty hardcore about plagerizing but some of the old teachers dont know what students can do with the internet these days. There are ways to get around all the stuff you said but in the end its just easeir to do it on your own.

The internet is great, but it's like a major town. You got the majority that's helpful, insightful and full of good information, places where you can talk to your friends, and stores to buy from when you need to get something. Then you can go Home, check your Mail etc.
However, there's also a side filled with misinformation and stupidity. Some places are full of nudity, some places are filled with grotesque images, and that's the side of "town" I avoid at all costs. But then you are bombarded with advertising, which we cannot avoid, and suddenly the "town" is like Times Square.
But in the end, no matter where you go, you can "take a walk through town" in just your underwear if you felt like it.

For a research project such as history, you have to do hand-written research notes, from various sources from the internet, referencing each one as you go, using the Havard-style system. Then, you have to do the rough draft at school, in class and hand-written with only your research notes helping you, and the teachers check the research notes, just in case someone sneaks a pre-written essay on their research notes. Then after a pre-determined amount of time to complete our hand-written essay, we have to take it home and type it up, making it 95% correct with our rough draft. Then we have to send it to a website called 'TurnItIn', which scans our essay with websites to see if you plagarised or not. And if you do, it's a fail.
How hardcore is that?

Seriouly i cant imagine having to do research without google or the internet, it lets the good students get more information faster thus allowing more time for the presentation of the info. But in the same negative way plagerizing is now more rampant and harder to catch. The internet in the end has changed all of our lives for the better or worse.

Some of the reports online have works cited included. Though most of the students that plagerize don't write good enough to match the reports online.

yea but my teachers checked every cited site and if it had nothing to do with the report theyll get suspicious. and y would a student put all that effort into trying to make it seem like they were plagerizing. plus the teachers know the kids writing abilities.
